Elbit Systems of Australia Pty Ltd has appointed entrepreneur and academic Dr Karen Stanton as its new Chair to oversee the transformation of its Australian operations.
Managing Director, Major General (ret’d) Paul McLachlan AO, CSC said Dr Stanton had already been a valuable contributing board member since her original appointment in August 2018.

“I am pleased to announce that Dr Stanton will be stepping up from her existing role as a non-executive director of Elbit Systems of Australia, to the position of Chair at such a crucial time for the business,” Mr McLachlan said.

“Our Australian business is undergoing a vital transformation over the coming year that will enable it to meet, and far exceed, the needs of our existing and potential customers such as defence, emergency services and homeland security.

“Dr Stanton will oversee the transformation of Elbit Systems of Australia as it gains independence and takes control of its security, governance, IT and engineering, in order to address any foreign ownership concerns.

“Dr Stanton is the perfect person to lead the transformation due to her vast experience in the defence industry as an owner and director of the highly successful manufacturing company HTA Group.

New Chair Karen Stanton said it was a privilege to be appointed as Chair at such an exciting time in the Australian company’s transformation.

“I am honoured Elbit Systems of Australia has chosen me to oversee one of the most important developments in the business since the inception of Elbit Systems into Australia in 2007,” Dr Stanton said.

“Our Australian business is on track with its transformation to grow its independence as we diversify our customer base.”

Dr Stanton will continue to work with the other board members Paul McLachlan (MD), Dan Webster, Roger Powell, Haim Delmar, David Block Temin and Joseph Gaspar.

Dr Stanton was appointed as a member of the Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC) Advisory Board in 2016.
